Pattern Reading Class
Have you ever yearned to create your own unique wardrobe, but found the complexity of sewing patterns daunting? Our 1.5-hour workshop is the key to unlocking the mysteries of sewing patterns, empowering you to turn them into stunning garments!
In this class, you’ll learn:
- The language of sewing patterns: Decipher symbols and notations plus understand what they mean.
- Pattern anatomy: Explore different pattern components and their uses.
- Choosing the correct pattern: Learn how to select patterns based on your skill level, fabric choices, and desired garment.
- Fabric selection: Gain insights into choosing the perfect fabric for your sewing project based on the pattern’s recommendations.
- Layout and cutting techniques: Master the art of laying out your pattern pieces on fabric for accurate cutting.
Sewing Class: Essential Skills
Are you ready to take your sewing machine skills to the next level? Our hands-on sewing class is just the thing to help you reach your creative potential. You’ll learn a wealth of valuable information to keep you sewing confidently, from maintaining accurate seam allowances to understanding grain lines and proper pinning techniques.
During this sewing class, you’ll also master sewing curves and corners, easily create machine-made buttonholes, and sew on a flat button to complete a small project. It’s the perfect opportunity to add new techniques to your skillset and make something beautiful.
You may bring your own sewing machine, power cord, foot pedal, one bobbin wound with any color sewing thread, presser feet, scissors, straight pins with pincushion, and your instruction book.
We will use the Baby Lock Jubilant machine for practice for those without a sewing machine.
We’ll provide any other necessary supplies you need. Before attending the sewing workshop, brush up on your threading and machine operation skills or take the Sewing Machine Basics Class.
A quick project will be completed during the course time. Not all will complete the project during the sewing class.
Classes start on June 15, from 1 pm to 4 pm. The location is the Marshes of Glynn County Library, Conference Room C.

Sew Your Own T-Shirt Like a Pro in this Masterclass
Have you ever wanted to sew, design, and create your own t-shirt? This beginner-friendly sewing class will guide you through the entire process, from choosing fabric to stitching the perfect seams.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- The basics of working with knit fabrics. It’s all about stretch, baby.
- How to use a t-shirt as a template to create your own pattern
- Sewing techniques for constructing a comfortable and stylish T-shirt
- How to attach sleeves and create a clean neckline and hem
- Transfer those skills to making items like sweatshirts
