Inspiration

  1. Comfort
  2. Love of Chevrons
  3. Needed something quick and eay

Navy Chevron, Not with Techron

Why are chevrons so popular now? I have no idea but they are so cute and pairing them with the mesa dress was definitely a good idea.  Sometimes they can overwhelm so the proper balance needs to be achieved so they don’t distort a small frame like mine.  Navy is a staple in my wardrobe so I love that I could immediately pair this with a blazer for work or take it off for a more casual look.  I appreciate seamwork patterns for developing a pattern that is versatile like this one–dress down with sneakers and a jean jacket, dress up with a blazer and flats.

Pattern Review

Pattern Description: Snug-fitting simple sheath dress

Pattern Sizing: Size: I made a size 8 with adjustments to the hips

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very easy to follow and very easy to sew.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love that it is so easy to sew and doesn’t have a whole lot of pieces so this is the dress you cut Saturday morning with your coffee and finish by noon to wear on Monday morning with the blazer you bought two weeks ago…LOL

Fabric Used:  knit fabric from Fine Fabrics in Atlanta

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:  I always have to make the hips wider than the bust

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes. I would sew it again and absolutely recommend it to others.

Conclusion:  This dress looked great on my daughter and certainly was not difficult to make.  There are plenty of design elements for this pattern that allow your true style to come out–fabric choices, buttons, closures.  I would not advise for a capsule wardrobe or every day wear.
